A magnificent flotilla of Tall Ships visited Hartlepool and Middlesbrough on the north east coast of England between 22-24th July 2005 on route to The Tall Ships Race at Newcastle / Gateshead. Hartlepool Marina and Victoria Harbour and Middlehaven, Middlesbrough hosted activities for visitors and crew members until Sunday.

Arrivals at Hartlepool over the weekend included A Class square rigged ships Alexander von Humboldt from Germany, Prince William from the UK, and Mercedes from Holland.
Various street theatre groups and entertainment kept the huge crowds happy together with a continental market and local attractions such as HMS Trincomalee in the Historic Quay and also the Museum of Hartlepool in this visionary and expanding visitor area of Hartlepool marina and the forthcoming £500m Victoria harbour development.
