Blimey ... Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on stage in Newcastle, England on May 9th 1981. I went to this concert - the first since his famous 'I've seen the future of rock and roll' gig at the Hammersmith Odeon London in 1975 - with my good friend Steve Hartley who at the time was a reporter for the Hartlepool Mail, where I was a photographer. I smuggled my Pentax K1000 (I think) and my favourite ever zoom lens, a 70-210 Vivitar Series 1 f2.8 lens under my armpit (!) in my leather jacket. Almost certain there were NO OTHER photographs taken of this gig. I knew I had these negs and the contact sheets somewhere, and then I came across them in 2005 and had them scanned to CD.

Jimmy Nail - Oz from Auf Wiedersehen Pet - who was lead singer in The King Crabs a Newcastle based band in the late 1970's. Photographed at The Bird's Nest WAIP night in Mainsforth Terrace Hartlepool. These are the only two images that survive (though one day I may find the original negatives...)
I think it may have been shot on Kodak T Max film using a Hanimex flashgun and a Fuji ST801 camera .. may have been a Practika. Sold to The Sun newspaper ... ah, them were the days! Scanned in 2006 from an original print on an Epson Perfection 4990 PHOTO scanner.
